Perxenic-Acid/ssmt_node_thumbnails
A shader node preview tool for Blender 5.2, built with Vibe Coding.
Key features:
-
Free & performant – good performance without the cost.
-
Smart caching – thumbnails are cached per material tree / sub‑tree; moving or rearranging nodes won’t trigger re‑renders.
-
Stable saving – queue pauses before saving
.blend; temporary data is cleared safely. -
Render‑aware – thumbnail queue auto‑pauses during final stills or animation renders, and resumes afterwards.
-
Debounced updates – waits 0.45s after node tree changes before processing.
-
Priority queue – renders selected nodes first, then nodes near the viewport center.
-
Duty cycle control – choose 25%/50%/100% batch duty cycle to balance responsiveness.
-
Group path awareness – node group thumbnails inherit textures, values, and upstream connections from their parent material, with separate caches per usage context.
-
Fallback mode – if Blender can’t provide reliable path info, falls back to isolated group preview.
Latest fixes (0.4.6):
-
Fixed
_resolve_node_grouperror for sub‑node trees. -
Added common UV semantic aliases (UVMap, TEXCOORD.xy, etc.) for preview spheres/planes.
-
Reuses Material Output and Emission nodes across a batch.
-
Redraws only the relevant node editor after each thumbnail, not all editors.
-
Handles read‑only
ShaderNodeTree.namein Blender 5.2.
A stable, lightweight preview solution for Blender 5.2 shader workflow.
Actually, it has no relation to SSMT itself.
